Washoe County Sheriff recognizes Human Trafficking aka Forced Prostitution, Awareness Day
“National Human Trafficking Awareness Day is recognized each year on January 11. Wearing blue signifies this day and today, the color is being worn by some of our staff to show our dedication to bringing awareness to the human trafficking that happens across the country, and right here in our own community.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Human Exploitation and Recovery Operations (H.E.R.O.) Unit is just one example of our commitment to helping safe lives. Every day, they work to safeguard the most vulnerable members of our community by dismantling trafficking networks, preventing exploitation, and offering recovery to victims.
Together as a community, we can work to save lives, support survivors, and put an end to human trafficking.
If you or someone you know is a victim of human trafficking, please reach out for help. Contact the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office H.E.R.O. Unit at (775) 328-3048 or the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-888-373-7888
