Sparks PD Releases Statement on Arrest of Subject Who Attacked a Woman With a Chain
On April 6, 2025, at approximately 3:02pm, officers of the Sparks Police Department responded to the 200 block of North McCarran Boulevard due to the report of a violent disturbance. On arrival, officers located a female victim and determined she had been battered by the suspect, identified as Alejandro Ayala. Ayala had struck the victim in the head with a metal chain and then attempted to strangle her with it.
While officers were investigating the incident, another disturbance was reported at a nearby apartment complex. They responded and made contact with the suspect in the disturbance who was identified as Ayala. Ayala was uncooperative with officers but was soon arrested. Ayala was found to have damaged an unrelated vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Ayala was subsequently charged with the following crimes:
-Domestic Battery by Strangulation
-Battery with a Deadly Weapon
-Domestic Battery
-Obstructing
-Destruction of Property
