Driver Arrested for DUI After Crashing Into Tree 🌳 💥 🚙 Per Sparks PD: “❗️ While you were sleeping ❗️ In the early hours of the morning on 4/14/25, Sparks Police responded to the area of Rock Blvd and Vance Wy on report of a vehicle driving off the roadway and onto the yard of residences. Officers arrived on scene and located a white van revving the engine and appeared to be stuck on a light pole, in very close proximity to a house. The driver was ultimately uncooperative and was transported to the jail in a WRAP safe restraint for his and officers’ safety. Officers were unable to identify the suspect but he was later identified through the Western Identification Network system as 21 year old Gasper Guzman Mendez. Guzman Mendez was booked into the Washoe County Jail for Driving under the influence and Obstructing/Resisting a public officer. The Sparks Police Department would like to remind our community members that driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not only illegal, but it’s also incredibly dangerous. Every year, impaired driving leads to tragic accidents, injuries, and fatalities. If you’re drinking or using drugs, don’t drive. Please plan ahead and use a designated driver, ride-sharing service, or public transportation.
