Tesla Laying Off 693 Employees in Sparks According to a report from the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) Tesla will lay off 693 workers in Sparks. The move will be effective June 14th. The company notified Nevada State of its plans to lay off the employees at various locations in the area as part of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, which requires companies to provide notification 60 days in advance when laying off 100 or more employees. The announcement has called into questions the impact on the $1.3 billion in incentives that Tesla received with the state of Nevada to hire its residents and locate in our region. The majority of the layoffs will affect workers at the Gigafactory.
