Two Local Boys Competing on Race to Survive on the USA Network Tyrie Merrill, 28, was born in Reno. He is also a Tribal member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute tribe. Merrill graduated from Fernley High and joined the Navy to later become an Aviation Rescue Swimmer. Upon leaving the military he become a Wildland fire fighter on the Vegas Valley Veterans hand crew. He and his buddy Ethan Greenberg, who is his partner on the show, are now Smokejumpers in Montana. Greenberg also owns and operates a tree service Low Stump out of Fernley, Nevada. Both can be seen competing on the upcoming season May 20th.
