Avalanche Claimed The Life of One Person and Left Three Injured in Lake Tahoe Area.
Authorities have now concluded their search efforts, which led to the closure of Palisades Tahoe, a popular ski resort located over 100 miles north of Sacramento.
The avalanche was initially reported around 9:30 a.m. at Palisades Tahoe, specifically near an advanced run known as KT-22, as confirmed by a social media post from the resort. The local fire department arrived at the scene to address the avalanche situation.
In a joint effort, multiple agencies in the vicinity joined forces with the Palisades Ski Patrol to conduct search and rescue operations. With the support of over 100 personnel from Palisades Tahoe and members of the public, these first responders bravely worked to locate any victims and survivors.
While the cause of the avalanche is still unknown, investigations are currently underway, as stated by the ski resort. Palisades Tahoe will remain closed for the rest of the day.
The Sheriff’s Office reports that the debris field left by the avalanche spans approximately 150 feet in width, 450 feet in length, and is 10 feet deep.
