Open Meetings Complaint Filed Against Devin Reese
The controversial city councilmember, is once again in the news for drama. An Open Meeting Law Complaint has been filed against Reno City Councilmember Devon Reese relatee to comments he made during an April 10th city council meeting. The complaint states that Devon Reese made disparaging and disrespectful remarks about another councilmember and the city attorney. during a discussion of the potential sale of the Community Assistance Center property, which had nothing to do with the actual agenda item.
The complaint states in part:
“Mr. Reese used his time to discuss the recent lawsuit with Councilperson Jenny Brekhus v. Reno and further disparage his colleague and journalists... Mr. Reese was interrupted twice by the City of Reno Attorney, Mr. Hall, who asked Mr. Reese to stay on topic. Mr. Reese twice ignored the City Attorney’s request.”
Members of the public were highly upset with his conduct during a meeting that lasted more than 11 hours and didn’t allow all members of the public to speak on the unsolicited proposal to buy a homeless shelter with city tax dollars.
This continues a long pattern of Devon bringing drama and controversy to Reno’s local government. He is up for re-election and recently was also in the news for a campaign mailer that went out with several allegations including that he left his dying wife for a man, a man who he parades all over his campaign website. Reese used the publicity of the mailerto solicit more funds for his campaign on social media.
Reno residents will have a chance to decide if he should return to the city council this year. #reno #nevada
