Measure to Vote on Abortion in Nevada Closer to Ballot
Nevadans for Reproductive Freedom announced today they have collected enough signatures to qualify a ballot measure for the state’s ballot in November. They say they have more than 200,000 signatures of voters, well more than the 103,000 needed to qualifying the proposal on the ballot.
Abortion is currently legal in Nevada up to a woman’s 24th week of pregnancy. Despite that, proponents are working to add a constitutional amendment on the ballot that would enshrine language and protect abortion rights in reaction other states removing rights after the decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
The hot button issue will surely play a role in partisan politics as well, with Nevada being a battleground state with very competitive races for president and the U.S. Senate taking place this year. #reno #sparks #nevada #washoecounty
