Reno City Manager Doug Thornley Calls It Quits
Doug Thornley has announced his resignation effective in July. He didn’t state a specific reason, although one could be speculated amidst the recent controversy surrounding the city council, but released the following statement:
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the Reno City Manager. When I joined the team in 2020, the organization was experiencing instability due to leadership turnover and the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. I made a commitment to rebuild organizational culture, improve internal structure to better serve the needs of our growing community, strengthen fiscal sustainability, improve services for our most vulnerable populations, and bolster public safety resources for Reno residents.
I’m extremely proud to look back on how far we’ve come as a team to make Reno not just livable, but lovable. We’ve built a solid base here and our community is in good hands as the Council looks for a City Manager to continue the great work we’ve started.” #reno #nevada
