Meet the Candidate: DENISE MYER
Denise Myer is a candidate for Reno City Council, Ward 3.
“I am a wife, mother, and grandmother. I have lived in Reno the majority of my life, attended grade school through college, raised my 3 daughters here, and now my 4 grandchildren. I graduated from UNR with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Economics. I also have a Master’s degree in Safety and Health Management. I served as an internal safety auditor for a major airline for several years. I am also a certified OSHA trainer, giving me expertise in Industrial Safety and Emergency Preparedness.
I love Reno and I am proud to call it my home. I am an active member of the community and served as past secretary for the local ASSP (American Society of Safety Professionals), as well as on the board for the Susan G. Koman Race for the Cure and on the media committee of the local Red Cross. I am currently the Vice Chair for the Washoe County Senior Advisory Board and on the Veterans Service Committee for the Elks Club.
Why am I running for City Council Ward 3? I feel our city has a need for someone who cares about the whole community, including seniors and veterans, and will stand up for those who need true representation. Reno needs increased services for public safety and improved infrastructure without increasing taxes, and a representative that is fiscally responsible with our tax money. We need a representative who will address homeless issues and their need for a hand-up and not a handout.
I want to be one of the six votes on the Reno City Council that responsibly represents Ward 3.” #reno #nevada
