Disgraced Washoe County Sheriff Deputy Sentenced For Multiple Crimes Including Bigamy
Dennis Carry, a former Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant was sentenced today to 12 to 36 months for multiple crimes including bigamy and forgery.
Carry was charged with two counts burglary, one count forgery, one count bigamy, one count unauthorized surreptitious intrusion of privacy by listening device, one count offering false evidence, and one count of perjury. He pled guilty only to the forgery, bigamy and offering false evidence.
He forged a divorce decree for his first wife in California after marrying a second woman in Nevada and was arrested after breaking into the courthouse and Sheriff’s Office where he worked, to alter marriage documents.
Today a judge sentenced him to 3 years in prison with the possibility of parole after only 12 months.
His former boss, Sheriff Balaam issued the following statement, ““Today’s sentencing of Dennis Carry is welcomed news. Dennis used his position as a law enforcement officer, a position in which one is held to the highest standard, to con, cajole and abuse the power he had as a deputy. Not only did he violate the trust placed in him by the public, he violated the trust of his coworkers and those who loved him. I am hopeful today’s sentencing brings some closure to Dennis’ victims.” #washoecounty #reno #nevada #badcop
