Suspect’s Gun Found in Neighbor’s Backyard Per Washoe County Sheriff: “On Sunday afternoon, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call for assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies located and interviewed the suspect at a residence. Despite inquiries and observations indicating otherwise, the suspect denied ownership of a firearm. After inquiries and investigation, the weapon in question had still not been discovered or obtained. In the 105-degree heat, and after obtaining a search warrant, deputies canvassed the area, gained permission from a neighbor, and located the firearm in the neighbor’s backyard. The suspect had tossed the firearm over a fence. The individual was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and was taken to the Washoe County Detention Facility where he is currently being held. We commend our deputies for their quick action and problem-solving, bringing swift closure to this incident and helping keep our community safe.” #nevada
