Rancher Warns Public of Recent Shootings 🐄
A cow was shot by someone unknown on Eagle Valley ranch in Carson City, which is surrounded by heavily used hiking trails and borders the Silver Saddle public use area as well as the Carson River, so there’s a bit of a community safety concern.
“About a week ago one of our mother cows was shot in the back- twice. Unfortunately she was paralyzed from the hip back & we had to end her suffering. It was tragic to loose a momma cow that had a long life ahead of her.
Then last night, rapid gunfire was heard towards the ranch from the trails surrounding the property.
Thankfully none of the animals were hit this time. But someone is shooting at the ranch- and they are either intentionally harming the livestock or hunting coyotes recklessly and sending rounds flying in a densely populated area. Either way it’s a terrible situation and we are heartbroken.
We are currently working with Carson City Sheriff as well as Nevada Department of Agriculture @nvagriculture, but we need your help too! If you have noticed any odd activity surrounding the ranch on Carson River Rd, hear gunshots in the valley, or know anything- please reach out to us. We love this community deeply and want to preserve the ranching history of the valley while providing people with high quality protein; but now we need the help of the community to protect our animals from such needless suffering.
Please share this post or tag whomever might be of help so we can reach as many people in the Carson area as possible. Thank you all, & we will keep you updated as this all develops!
