Students Attend Opioid Awareness Summit
One pill can kill. It’s that simple. According to DEA Administrator Anne Milgram, “Fentanyl is the single deadliest drug threat our nation has ever encountered.”
Yesterday, hundreds of students from Northern Nevada met at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino for the Opioid Youth Summit presented by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (Reno Resident Office) and the Washoe County School District. Students heard from several members of the law enforcement and medical community to learn not only about the dangers but also about making different choices to stay away from opioids.
Members of our Forensics Division and K9 Units were on hand to speak, provide demonstrations, and interact directly with the youth. As with many communities, we know Fentanyl has greatly impacted Washoe County. Beyond our tireless enforcement efforts, we are leveraging opportunities like this to directly reach out to people proactively and curb them from ever using this lethal drug.
