If you are being told to deposit your cash into cryptocurrency for any reason, STOP IMMEDIATELY, END YOUR CURRENT CALL & CALL us at: 775-785 WCSO (9276). It is a SCAM!
These scams often include: - Fake claims that you owe money for a warrant, fines, or legal fees. Fraudsters impersonating Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Supervisors or Deputies. Calls appearing to come from 775-328-3001 or directing you to Google the number for legitimacy.
IT’S NOT THE WASHOE COUNTY SHERIFF CALLING YOU. This is a fraud or extortion scam conducted by criminals using fake identities and official-sounding language to scare you into sending money.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU RECEIVE SUCH A CALL: 1. Do not deposit any money into cryptocurrency or gift cards. 2. Hang up immediately. 3. Call Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Non-Emergency Dispatch at 775-785- WCSO (9276) to confirm it’s a scam.
