California Man on Probation Arrested After Beating an Elderly Man in Washoe County Per WCSO: “On November 17, 2024, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call regarding an alleged battery. Upon arrival, deputies gathered multiple witness statements and reviewed corroborating camera footage of an incident in which an elderly individual was battered by a neighbor. The suspect in this case was identified as 38-year-old William Forrest Tropf III. During the investigation, deputies discovered that Tropf was on probation out of California for attempting to own or possess a firearm as a prohibited person. On November 20, 2024, through a collaborative effort between Washoe County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies and detectives, Tropf was located and taken into custody. Tropf is currently being held at the Washoe County Detention Facility on charges of felony battery by a probationer and violation of probation conditions.
